Le Grand Tour – Le Flaneur

Being a tour guide brings a whole new appreciation for everything I have experienced by living in Paris!

Today we fulfilled the promise of a famous Parisian saying “Le Flaneur” – literally meaning stroll but it comes with so much extra meaning and history!

Think of all the people that have walked these streets and their experiences and purpose. These streets have been the inspiration for innovation and renaissance, bloodshed and revolution, love and passion, life and death.

When you walk these streets you experience the intensity of the emotions that like fingerprints have left a mark that linger and inspire you with each breath.

A jaunt around the varied streets and arrondissement of Paris holds so much more value than the usual touristy attractions.

You are drawn into each of the little moments you witness…

… A mother playing with her children in the park…

… Lying in the sun in a gorgeous park…

… A line at the felafel place…

… Savouring incredible red peach, raspberry and apricot sorbet…

(SORRY WE ENJOYED IT SO MUCH AND ATE IT SO INTENTLY THAT WE HAD NO CHANCE FOR A PHOTO!)

… Crossing the seine and noticing light streaking through clouds with birds soaring on the chilled winds…

The moodiness of the dark clouds, the crisp air, the fingers of light through the clouds– it was all perfect, it spoke of hope, I won’t forget it!
